UK PRIMARY & SECONDARY SCHOOL CLASSES
for English-speaking children
-
Are you the parent of an English-speaking child in Toulouse?
-
Do you want them to learn to read and write in English alongside other English-speaking children?
-
Do you want them to experience learning English as it is taught in UK schools?
Founded in 2012 by Emma Nelson, a teacher and mum of three bilingual children in the French school system who could answer 'yes' to all of those questions at the time, Jack in the Box has been offering UK primary and secondary school classes in Toulouse for the last twelve years, and is an entirely English speaking environment.
It is open to children with native level understanding. It may be the case that your child doesn't use English regularly at home as bilingual children often favour one language over the other, depending on where they're living. But as long as they understand what is said to them in English, they will benefit from our classes. We usually find that within 3-6 months of them spending time with other children just like them at JitB, they start communicating in English with the English-speaking parent at home. They no longer feel like 'the only one'.
Since 2019 we have entered nine students for the IGCSE English Language and Literature exams and all have achieved excellent results. The success of our Covid-enforced Zoom classes in 2020 convinced us to move the entire secondary section online in 2021, and we are absolutely delighted to be able to offer our classes to students outside of Toulouse!

A message for parents in Toulouse considering the English 31 scheme at Collège or Lycée Victor Hugo in Colomiers:
The English 31 scheme is a wonderful opportunity for many bilingual children in the Toulouse area, with a proven track record, but the very academic nature of the programme is unlikely to suit all children. If you feel your child may not enjoy an intense academic environment, then our secondary online programme might be what you're looking for. Our secondary teacher is always happy to chat to you about how the courses are run, answer questions and offer advice. No sign-up necessary!

And for those children who are planning on continuing their English education at Victor Hugo, we will shortly be offering English 31 entrance exam prep classes to help you get in!

"I definitely believe JitB provide the best English classes in the Toulouse area. I have been so happy with everything - the curriculum and the teachers. Aymeric took group classes last year elsewhere because there wasn't a suitable class for him, but it was nothing compared to the level at JitB! Sixtine had so much fun with Emily working on WW1 poetry and doing drama. They learnt so much - poetry, history, literature. And Alix has really enjoyed all her classes. It's definitely thanks to JitB that she has been able to keep up her English".
